Green Credentials
By significantly enhancing the durability and dimensional stability of fast-growing and abundantly available certified wood, Accoya® wood provides compelling environmental advantages over slow-growing hardwoods (which are often unsustainably sourced), woods treated with toxic chemicals, and non-renewable carbon-intensive materials such as plastics, steel and concrete).
Accoya® wood is produced from New Zealand grown plantations of Radiata Pine solely procured from responsibly managed forests. Because Radiata Pine grows so quickly, its plantations have a substantially larger annual yield per hectare per year than slower growing softwoods and almost all hardwoods. This means that Accoya is a great substitute for carbon intensive materials (plastics, steel, concrete, etc) and helps mitigate the effects of global warming.
Wood without compromise
Accoya® is the world’s leading high technology long life wood. The Accoya® wood production process takes sustainably-sourced, fast growing softwood and enhances nature, creating a modified wood that matches or exceeds the durability, stability and beauty of the very best tropical hardwoods.

FSC Certification
All Accoya® wood supplied from Timspec is Forest Stewardship Council ® and under the Mixed Credit classification.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is probably the most well-known Certification Scheme. It is a very large international organisation established to promote responsible management of the world's forests. They have a high level of environmental, legal and traceability requirements and certificate holders are subject to annual audits. They have strict Chain-of-Custody requirements, so that only someone who has an FSC Chain-of-Custody certificate and has bought timber from an FSC Certified supplier/forest may sell that timber as FSC Certified.

Cradle to Cradle Certification
Accoya® wood also has Gold category Cradle to Cradle certification.
Cradle to Cradle certification is a multi-attribute ecolabel that assesses products for their ingredients’ human and environmental health characteristics, their recyclability or compostability, and their manufacturing characteristics.
In order to get Gold Certification, Accoya had to meet the Gold standard requirements in each of the five categories:
- Material Health (Impact on human and environmental health)
- Material reutilization (recyclability/compostability)
- Renewable Energy Use
- Water Stewardship
- Social Responsibility
